About your trip

We’ll admit it, no one does the Inca Trail quite like G-Adventures. G combines the cultural highlights of the Sacred Valley with the challenge of one of the world’s best-known hikes. The four-day Inca Trail trek passes through a stunning combination of the region’s ruins, mountainscapes and cloud forests. Once you catch your first glimpse of Machu Picchu in the early morning light, you’ll know it was all worthwhile. Best of all, since G runs their own treks, they can ensure the fair treatment of their porters and the quality of food and equipment, so you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the region.

Why We Travel with G-Adventures

Named Best Inca Trail Tour Operator by the Regional Direction of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Cusco (RDFTTC) in Peru. Your purchase of this tour helps employ over 560 local guides, porters, cooks, drivers, and office staff — connecting local communities to the global tourism chain.

Inti Raymi Festival

The Inti Raymi festival takes place every June 24th in the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Cusco. In Quechua Inti means Sun and Raymi means celebration. Inti Raymi is the celebration of the God Sun, the most venerated god in Inca religion. According to Inca tradition, Pachatutec, the first Inca, created the Inti Raymi to celebrate the winter solstice which marked the first day of the New Year in the Inca calendar. The winter solstice begins on June 21st but according to the incas, the sun stays in the same place until the 24th when it finally rises. Therefore, every year on June 24th the festival of the Inti Raymi takes place in the city of Cusco.

Arrive at any time

In Cusco, every corner tells a story and every story is captivating, mystical and inviting. Imagine walking through streets with names like "Ataúd" [Coffin], Siete Culebras [Seven Serpents] and "Harpies" [Harpies]. In these streets time seems to have stopped, every corner offers a piece of history, and the stones remain alive because they have survived intact.

Cusco witnessed the arrival of the Spanish, and yet to this day it conserves an ancestral magic which captivates the thousands of visitors who each year form part of its living history.

Cusco, acknowledged as the historic capital of Peru, renowned as the navel of the Earth.  Once you visit for yourself, you will be captivated by it's magic.

Enjoy a day trip to Maras and Moray

This otherwise modest village is proud to offer the world an invaluable treasure, in the form of the famous Maras salt. These saltpans create an impressive spectacle: hundreds of pure white pools, around which it is possible to walk. And local people offer every imaginable product made from this precious salt, even chocolates!

Maras is also home to the Moray Archaeological Complex, where circular agricultural terraces, or "muyus" were excavated from the earth to create different microclimates, as part of what is said to have been an Inca agricultural research station.

Free Day in Cusco or Rainbow Mountain Trek

There is a place in the south of Peru where a mountain attracts, not so much for its grandeur, but  for its spectacular look. We are talking about Vinicunca, or rainbow mountain, which has become one of the greatest tourist attractions in the land of the Incas.

Located in the Cordillera de Vilcanota - southeast of the city of Cusco- Vinicunca offers a wonderful show, from the same path that leads to it. It is a journey of approximately five hours by car and on foot that, even though demands a high physical preparation, culminates in a postcard image that is forever engraved in the memory of the traveler.

For those who choose not to participate in the trek, the day will be spent in Cusco at leisure.
